Oxford Economics, a leading economic forecasting and consulting firm, is seeking a highly motivated and detail‑oriented Research Associate to join our London‑based Data Insights Thought Leadership team. This sub‑team within the broader Thought Leadership practice focuses on producing quantitative research that helps leading global organisations engage executive audiences with insightful, data‑driven content. Our work includes designing and analysing global business surveys, identifying trends and actionable insights, and transforming complex datasets into compelling, digestible narratives through charts, dashboards and written commentary.

The right candidate will bring a sharp analytical mind, a strong grasp of data tools like Excel and PowerPoint, and a passion for turning numbers into stories. This is an entry‑level opportunity with significant development potential. You’ll get hands‑on experience supporting high‑profile, sponsored research projects for major global brands, with room to grow into a client‑facing project management role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Analysis & Research Support
    • Assist in designing global surveys, collaborating with editors and clients to ensure questions are clear, relevant, and methodologically sound
    • Clean, process and analyse large survey datasets (typically in Excel or through dashboard platforms)
    • Collaborate with project managers to develop quantitative insights that feed into client‑facing reports and presentations
    • Build charts, graphs and data visualisations to illustrate findings in a clear and engaging way
    • Perform desk research to ensure findings are contextualised and informed by wider business and economic trends
    • Support editors with fact‑checking, quote verification and data accuracy reviews
  • Survey & Supplier Coordination
    • Liaise with external survey providers to manage fieldwork logistics and monitor response rates
    • Track data delivery timelines and ensure interim/final deliverables are reviewed and shared on time
    • Escalate quality issues with suppliers when necessary and ensure all data specifications are met
    • Ensure survey files, responses and deliverables are stored and documented properly
  • Project Operations & Team Support
    • Assist with organising expert interviews or coordinating contributions from external stakeholders
    • Upload final thought leadership materials (reports, infographics, etc.) to the Oxford Economics website
    • Track project progress through internal systems, including logging time and maintaining accurate financial records
    • Support team members with general administrative tasks and document handling
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
  • Education & Interest
    • Bachelor’s degree (field open; quantitative, business or social science backgrounds welcome)
    • Curiosity about the global economy, executive decision‑making and how data influences business strategy
    • Some experience working with data (e.g., academic research, internships, Excel projects, survey analysis)
  • Technical & Analytical Skills
    • Strong skills in Excel (e.g., functions, pivot tables, charting); familiarity with data dashboards (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI) a plus
    • Proficiency in PowerPoint and Word, especially for presenting data‑based insights
    • Basic understanding of survey methodology and interest in quantitative storytelling
    • Copyediting and proofreading ability is a bonus
