About This Role

The Science Department is a key curriculum area within the Academy, with a strong focus on high‑quality teaching, consistency of practice, and excellent outcomes for all students.

The Role

The successful candidate will carry out the professional duties of a Science teacher in accordance with the Academy’s policies and under the direction of the line manager. You will teach Science across Key Stages 3 and 4 and may also teach up to KS3 in another subject. Teaching to GCSE level in Science or another subject is required.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Teach Science at KS3 and KS4, including GCSE level (and up to KS3 in another subject where required).
  • Deliver high‑quality lessons aligned with the Academy’s Features of Great Teaching.
  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and achievement in line with ‘The CHA Way’.
  • Use assessment effectively to monitor student progress and inform planning.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and share best practice within the Science team.
  • Support enrichment activities and wider engagement in Science.
  • Act as a form tutor, delivering pastoral and Life Skills (PSHE) provision.
  • Promote student wellbeing, safeguarding, and positive relationships with parents.
  • Take part in Academy events and ongoing professional development.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent or willingness to gain QTS.
  • A degree in Science or a related field preferred.
  • Experience teaching Science at the secondary level.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development.
