Are you an experienced Senior Fire Risk Assessor looking for a new opportunity? Oxford City Council is currently seeking a diligent and qualified professional Senior Fire Risk Assessor to join our Fire Safety Team, operating within the Property and Assets Directorate. This is a crucial role that will involve conducting fire risk assessments, audits, inspections and surveys across our stock, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and minimising risk.

The successful candidate will have a strong technical background with a clear understanding of the Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order (2005) and relevant fire safety legislation and guidance documents, with experience gained in housing.

Role responsibilities and main duties:

  • Primarily responsible for providing and delivering 100% compliance for Fire Risk Assessments across the Oxford City Council portfolio.
  • Building Safety Management and oversight of the Building Safety Cases.
  • Undertaking fire risk assessments at Oxford City Council’s premises.
  • Ensuring suitable and accurate remedial works are identified and communicated in assessments, and that they align with the timeframes recommended in the Oxford City Council FRA Process documents.
  • Working as part of a team of Fire Risk Assurers, utilising an excellent knowledge of the FRA process to view fire risk holistically and ensure that risk is identified and communicated accurately.
  • Organise and manage an FRA program while mentoring and developing a team of Fire Risk Assayers.
  • Provide technical fire safety advice to colleagues across the organisation and being a point of contact for external organisations in relation to fire safety.
  • Developing relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and current and potential contractors; working closely with our contractors, customers and colleagues in collating and reporting information.
  • Promoting Oxford City Council’s Fire Safety campaign and communicating fire risk and good fire safety practice to all relevant persons.
  • Responding to ad-hoc fire related queries.
  • Undertaking other fire safety related works as required, such as liaising with enforcement officers.
  • Achieving key performance indicators and providing monthly KPI reports.
  • Undertaking other duties as dictated by the needs of Oxford City Council.
