Following the recent Local Government Reorganisation for Oxfordshire announcement this is an exciting time to join the Law, Governance and Strategy Directorate as we work towards the formation of a new unitary authority for Greater Oxford. Operating at the heart of Oxford City Council, the directorate is responsible for the democratic and political management arrangements of the authority including the conduct of elections and the provision of a full and varied range of legal services.
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced property lawyer to join our well respected in-house legal team to lead on all legal aspects of property, housing and regeneration work in connection with the Council's services, LGR brings a range of exciting opportunities to be part of shaping the future unitary authorities for Oxford city and surrounding areas, and as a member of the service's management team you will play a key role in both the directorate and wider organisation.
As the successful candidate you will be an expert in your field with the ability to undertake complex property, housing and regeneration work and lead and manage a team of lawyers specialising in property, housing and regeneration and governance. As well as having a wide spectrum of technical ability you will need to show yourself to be confident, professional and enthusiastic and able to give clear and credible advice to senior officers and elected members.
You will also be a proactive and robust leader and team player, be flexible in approach and willing to get involved in all areas of the Legal Service Team's work. In addition, we are looking for a creative thinker that can influence and drive progress and who is keen to play a key role in helping the service to develop and improve.
A commercial and pragmatic focus, as well as an awareness of the political and corporate implications of decisions are needed too.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, collaboration and problem-solving skills are also required for this role.
