The Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) will bring significant changes to how public services are delivered in Oxfordshire over the next 2 years. Oxford City Council will transition into a new local authority structure by April 2028, and work is already underway to support this change. To help us during this period, we are seeking a People Services Support Officer to provide effective day-to-day People services support.

This is primarily an administrative role, supporting both the delivery of People Services while contributing to preparations for the changes ahead. In this role, you will act as a first point of contact for People enquiries, responding to emails and calls and directing queries as needed.

You will provide accurate administrative support across a range of People activities, including:

  • Maintaining employee records, contracts, and starters and leavers information
  • Updating HR systems and trackers
  • Supporting the coordination of meetings, training and communication

You will also provide practical administrative support linked to LGR activity, such as collating information, producing documents and supporting consultation and engagement processes, while ensuring all information is handled confidentially.

We are looking for someone with previous administrative experience, ideally within HR or People Services, who is well organised and able to manage competing priorities and deadlines. You will have strong attention to detail, be confident handling sensitive information, and communicate clearly and professionally both in writing and verbally. You will enjoy working as part of a supportive team and be committed to delivering a high standard of customer service.

You will join a friendly, professional and supportive People Team, where you will be welcomed and encouraged to develop in your role. While this position is largely focused on administrative support, responsibilities may evolve as the LGR programme progresses, offering exposure to a major change programme within local government. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys administration, thrives in a busy environment, and wants to contribute positively during a significant period of change.
