Oxford City Council has an opportunity for a Building Safety Manager to manage higher‑risk buildings within its portfolio on a day‑to‑day basis, ensuring compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act 2021 and associated regulations.
Responsibilities and main duties
- To oversee the implementation of controls in respect of building safety, fire safety and other compliance areas such as L8, Asbestos, site safety etc. on a day‑to‑day basis.
- Responsibility for five high‑rise buildings, act as a primary point of contact for the building safety regulator, fire and rescue services, and residents.
- Ensuring compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act 2021, and associated regulations.
- Maintain and update Building Safety Cases for high‑rise and medium‑rise buildings, provide information to the Building Safety Regulator, and support health and safety compliance across housing and commercial investment properties.
- To contribute to resident engagement where required, particularly ensuring that safety concerns are recorded, monitored and dealt with appropriately.
- Communicate with residents about building safety matters and support resident engagement strategies.
- To effectively manage all compliance & safety‑related elements within the designated building portfolio to which the role relates.
- To ensure that controls are implemented in respect of building work carried out in the managed stock to which the role relates.
- To engage with Property Services colleagues who are responsible for managing projects. Development and implementation and submission of Building Safety Cases and ensure effective maintenance and management post‑implementation.
- To ensure that compliance‑related planned, preventive maintenance is carried out within the managed portfolio to which the role relates.
- To engage with relevant internal staff to ensure that roles are performed effectively in accordance with the Corporate Policies, such as Fire, CDM etc.
- To oversee the successful implementation of corrective actions arising from fire risk assessments and audits.
- To ensure that facilities for use by the fire and rescue service are effectively managed and maintained.
- To perform any other reasonable tasks that ensure the effective management of premises for which the role is responsible, to the fulfillment of our customer service objectives.
- Produce regular reporting as agreed with line management for compliance‑related items and write or contribute to reports as required.
