The Surveyor Manager will manage the team and provide cross service support as necessary. The postholder will handle their own caseload and be responsible for providing advice on adaptations, designing and specifying solutions, commissioning work, monitoring quality of work, and providing technical advice to other professionals. The role requires creativity and problem-solving skills on a daily basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide the technical, professional lead for the Home Improvement Agency functions carried out by the team, including delivery of projects and other casework.
  • Take responsibility for reactive and proactive elements of the team’s work areas and collaborate with team members to develop ideas and effective working practices.
  • Supervise and support team members to ensure high performance and excellent customer service, providing managerial support to the HIA Manager.
  • Provide residents and Home Improvement Agency clients with a professional, flexible, and safe adaptations service to meet their needs.
  • Ensure that existing housing in Oxfordshire is fit for purpose, allowing vulnerable people, predominantly homeowners, to continue living independently as long as possible.
  • Provide technical and process support in the delivery of Disabled Facilities Grants and other grants and loans.
  • Take the technical lead in relevant reactive and programmed elements of the team’s work and provide professional advice to colleagues.
  • Effectively manage personal casework and projects in accordance with the Service’s procedures.
  • Provide expert technical and professional advice and support to the Team Manager on relevant work areas in the HIA Team and contribute to service project teams as required.
  • Stand in as necessary to provide managerial support in the absence of a Team Manager in the RS&CS Service.
  • Develop and maintain effective links and working relationships with relevant internal and external partners.
  • Support the service area in delivering the Corporate and service plans using appropriate organisational tools, policies, and procedures.
  • Liaise with healthcare professionals to provide cost-effective disabled adaptations.
  • Act as a point of contact for disabled and other grant and loan clients, advising on general grant and loan procedures and policies through personal visits to clients’ homes.
  • Undertake initial site visits as directed, either independently or with Occupational Therapists (and other support agencies as required), to assess the suitability of properties for adaptation, repair, and improvements.
