Purpose of the role:
- Support Brookes Union to deliver its strategic and operational KPIs
- Support the Union to deliver its core function of representing students by enabling students to be active members of the Brookes community by delivering engaging community-focused events
- Support the elected officers to deliver high-impact and evidence-led campaigns and activities
Main responsibilities:
- To bring society and student-led activities and events on campus to life; with a focus on helping to build community and improve student engagement with Brookes Union.
- To plan and deliver a schedule of high quality, engaging and relevant events to students across all Oxford Brookes University campuses.
- Support colleagues, officers, students and student groups to plan, deliver and evaluate the success of events and activities on campus.
- Responsibility for developing and ensuring the adherence to the Union’s events planning procedures including budgeting, free speech regulations, health and safety policy and behavioural policy.
- Adequately risk assess or support others to risk assess their events activities ensuring these are in line with the Union, and Oxford Brookes
- University, health and safety policies and guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Communications and Engagement team to plan the promotion of events in line with the organisational calendar
- Support the delivery of the Union’s celebratory events including Freshers Fair, Union awards ceremonies, Elections/Results Nights and Teaching Awards and similar
- Lead on the Union's involvement in recruitment activity including our attendance at Open Days, Applicant Days and other similar activity in conjunction with relevant University Departments
