We are currently recruiting for a Vice President, Head of Supply Chain to join the UK Operations leadership team. The purpose of this role is to lead and optimize our supply chain operations. This role is critical in managing and supporting the entire supply chain lifecycle. Working with procurement and production to ensure robust inventory management, distribution and logistics. A proactive leader who can drive efficiency, improve processes, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, ultimately contributing to our mission of improving patient outcomes.

Your responsibilities in this role would be:

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement comprehensive supply chain strategies that align with the company’s short-term and long-term goals. This includes assessing current capabilities, identifying gaps, and driving initiatives to enhance overall performance.
  • Supply Chain Management: Oversee all aspects of the supply chain, including production planning, inventory management, and logistics, and work with procurement and sourcing team for delivering on viral vector production. Ensure the timely availability of materials and resources needed for continuous operations.
  • Vendor Relationships: Build and maintain robust relationships with key suppliers and vendors. Support the negotiation of contracts that ensure the best quality, pricing, and service levels while supporting Procurement in exploring opportunities for strategic partnerships to enhance supply chain capabilities.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all supply chain activities adhere to relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and other applicable guidelines. Stay informed about changes in regulations that may impact supply chain operations.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks within the supply chain, including supply disruptions, quality issues, and regulatory changes. Develop and implement mitigation strategies to address these risks, ensuring the continuity of operations and minimizing impact on production schedules.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure supply chain efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance. Use data analytics to monitor performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing supply chain team.
  • Technology Integration: Leverage technology and supply chain management software tools to enhance operational efficiency and visibility.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: Explore and implement strategies to enhance sustainability within the supply chain. This includes assessing supplier practices, optimizing transportation methods, and reducing waste throughout the supply chain process.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the supply chain budget, ensuring alignment with overall organizational financial goals. Monitor expenditures and implement cost-saving initiatives while maintaining high standards of quality and service.

We are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred or an MBA with a focus on supply chain management.
  • Significant experience in supply chain management, in a leadership role within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, with the ability to identify potential risks and leverage technology is an essential requirement.
  • Extensive knowledge of viral vector production processes and related supply chain challenges, including raw material sourcing, production scheduling, and distribution logistics is essential.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex supply chains, particularly in regulated environments, with a focus on quality assurance and compliance.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions that enhance supply chain performance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners, influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in supply chain management software and tools, along with a strong understanding of data analytics and reporting tools.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing supply chain team. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence.
  • Foster strong collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Procurement, Development Services, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, and Commercial Operations. Facilitate effective communication to ensure alignment and support for product development and delivery initiatives.
