An opportunity has arisen at Oxford Archaeology to work in our Archives team. We are seeking an experienced Archives Assistant Supervisor to join the highly successful and respected Post-Excavation Team in our Cambridge office based at Bar Hill. There will also be opportunities to work closely with our Finds Department. The successful candidate will contribute to a range of archaeological and cultural heritage investigations and projects.
Candidates will have at least 6 months practical experience in preparing archaeological archives for deposition as well as familiarity with related processes and procedures including the ability to mark and administer relevant finds assemblages prior to deposition. Ability to record data accurately, to store it securely and appropriately in the required format, including relevant computer skills. Ability to work as part of a team, with a flexible approach when working under pressure and to deadlines. Ability to adapt, in liaison with the relevant manager, relevant procedures and practices to suit different conditions.
The postholder will be capable of working partially independently and may be responsible for supervising others, including GTs and volunteers with regard to the processing of material and data, in preparation for archive deposition. Ability to lift, handle, store and transfer archival material with care and safety, so as to protect it appropriately. The ability to carry out work practices in accordance with health and safety legislation and any related policies. Excellent written English. A good knowledge and understanding of British archaeology and the principles, practices, procedures and processes relevant to archival work.
A degree in archaeology, archaeological science or related discipline will be highly advantageous, as will experience of professional archaeological fieldwork and post-excavation within the UK commercial environment. Ability to drive. Applicants should be members, or eligible for membership, of the CIfA, at the PCIfA level.

Competitive, constantly benchmarked, salary range £28,720 - £29,562 (pay award pending): appointments will be made based on demonstrated ability, previous experience and CIfA membership if appropriate.
