Based at Oxford Airport, the role of an Aviation Security Officer is to keep the airport and passengers safe by enforcing security regulations and identifying potential threats. As an Aviation Security Officer, you will be responsible for screening passengers and their belongings, identifying and confiscating prohibited items, and performing body searches when necessary. You will also be responsible for operating screening equipment, such as X‑ray machines, metal detectors, and explosive detection systems. Additionally, you will need to be able to identify and respond to emergency situations and work closely with law enforcement agencies.

Key Responsibilities- Service expectations for airside and landside security
- Welcome passengers and visitors to the airport.
- Providing directions and instructions for airport visitors.
- Conducting airside and landside patrols as per the site assignment instructions.
- Check and challenge airside pass holders for validity and identity.
- Monitoring CCTV to ensure compliance with security procedures and responding accordingly.
- Controlling airside access for vehicles and pedestrians; validating vehicle and pedestrian passes.
- Assisting in emergency or incident response, including aircraft emergencies, domestic fires, bomb threats, protestors etc.
- Resolution of incidents involving suspicious packages or unauthorised people on airport property.
- Reporting crimes to the Airport Security Manager and Police.
- Completing paperwork such as patrol logs, daily occurrence logs and incident reports.
- Providing airside escorts to pedestrians and vehicles as required.
- Assist with on-site NASP flight screening.
- Zero tolerance approach to health & safety non-compliance.
- Basic level of administration skills.
- Counter Terrorist Check clearance.
- Receipt of a satisfactory standard disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
- The role involves large amounts of manual handling and candidates must be physically fit.
- Ability to quickly and accurately react and assess any given situation and instigate corrective action.
- Must be able to pass a colour blind test.
- The ability to work under pressure.
- Flexibility to work various shifts (evening, nights, weekends, and public holidays).
- A full manual driving licence recognised by the UK is essential.
- You will be required to pass the relevant training courses as well as an airside driving test.
