£155 – £165 per day, 9 hour shifts (8.00 – 18.00) during school holidays.

Oxford Active Ltd has been running for over 20 years and we look for Outdoor Camp Managers that have:

  • 2 years’ experience working with children
  • Ideally 1 year’s management experience
  • Experience in outdoor education

If you love working with children, have leadership qualities and experience, as well as plenty of enthusiasm and a great knowledge of safeguarding and OFSTED, you could be leading our team of Outdoor Instructors!

This is a rewarding role where you will be organising and overseeing the running of a whole range of activities and keeping children safe in a stimulating and caring environment. Active Adventure Camps have been specifically designed for children aged 6 – 14 years old. The instructors pride themselves in being able to provide meaningful, creative, and engaging outdoor learning experiences through a range of activities.

You’ll also assist in the daily organisation and operation of the camp so that children are kept safe, learn new skills, and have fun. Activities may include:

Your Key Duties:

  • Overseeing, managing and running the whole holiday camp.
  • Set up and training day prior to the first day of camp starting.
  • Oversee a team of Outdoor Instructors and speak with parents and carers.
  • Provide a programme of creative and fun play opportunities for children aged 6 – 14 years.
  • Prepare and implement the daily staff rota, including lunch breaks.
  • Ensure camp is staffed at all times with a safe ratio of adults to children.
  • Conduct safety briefs before an activity and ensure risk assessments are in place.
  • Ensure all staff are familiar with the daily routine and relevant camp policies.
  • Build effective relationships with children’s parents/carers.
  • Deal directly with parents’/carers’ enquiries and requests as necessary.
  • Lead your team to build effective and positive working relationships with the host school.
  • Conduct observations of staff running their activities and provide constructive feedback.
  • Conduct regular staff performance reviews and take disciplinary action if necessary.
  • Understand and adhere to Ofsted requirements.
  • Ensure correct records, risk assessments and other paperwork are in place.
  • Administer first aid as appropriate and complete accident and incident forms.

About You:

  • At least 1 year’s experience in outdoor activities.
  • At least 2 years’ experience of working or volunteering with children in a play, educational and/or sports environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OFSTED regulations and safeguarding children.
  • Confident and able to communicate well at all levels – staff, parents and children.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team.
  • Responsible, mature and able to use own initiative.
  • Well-organised, comfortable with paperwork and confident with IT.
  • First Aid qualified.
