The Role of our Deputy Shop Managers

Deputy shop managers are commercially aware, seek new business opportunities, motivate teams, and create a safe, energetic work environment. They maintain high standards, are results-driven, and accountable for their shop\’s performance.

They work within an empowered, busy environment, often with volunteers taking on many tasks, including running the shop in the manager’s absence. Our managers and deputies enjoy working with others, delegating effectively, and engaging with the community to attract supporters.

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Support the development of an inclusive, diverse team capable of maintaining daily shop activities.
  • Commercial awareness with support for retail processes and merchandising.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Shop Manager, build positive relationships, provide excellent customer service, and engage with the community.
  • Demonstrate resilience, manage conflicting demands, and seek support when needed.
  • Be numerate and financially literate, able to interpret financial reports, monitor budgets, and maintain administrative systems.
