In this role, you will deliver an editorial service that is responsive, flexible, and adds real value, working closely with our economists at all levels to ensure that our outputs are well written, clearly presented, and fully compliant with Oxera branding, house style, and legal requirements. You will also help develop others by transferring best‑practice skills to our consultancy and Business Support teams through constructive feedback and ad hoc training.
What you will be doing:
- Editorial and proofreading – Detailed copyediting and proofreading of consultancy outputs (notes, reports, PowerPoint presentations, etc.) to ensure compliance with house style, Oxera rules for written guidelines and high quality standards.
- E&P templates – Providing solid advice to a range of stakeholders about which templates and treatment are most effective for their specific requirements. Running induction and training sessions where required to ensure compliance with house style, Oxera rules for written guidelines and high quality standards.
- Visual identity and design – Supporting other teams to create visual assets via platforms including Flourish and Canva, helping to upskill stakeholders and promote responsible utilisation.
- Liaising with freelancers on editorial outputs when resource in the team is limited or we are under pressure to hit deadlines.
- Providing feedback to consultants about potential areas for improvement, with the aim of continually improving the standards of outputs. Where appropriate, providing training.
- Applying sound project management principles and tools to help deliver cross‑function projects, including the improvement of our Word and PowerPoint templates.
- As a team player, supports the collective team aim to enhance the value and impact of the Editorial & Production service, and the application of AI agents to create efficiencies.
- Drafting copy on an adhoc basis for internal communications (intranet posts and staff email news) and external communications (LinkedIn posts, website).
What you will bring:
- Excellent knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation and usage.
- Excellent eye for detail.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines, to juggle multiple tasks and to work flexibly to meet the demands of the business.
- Ability to work independently and act on own initiative.
- Good communication and people skills, and ability to communicate effectively with different levels of seniority across the business.
- Ability to adapt and adopt a flexible approach when dealing with ambiguity and uncertainty.
- Enthusiastic, can‑do approach.
- Good understanding of the business sectors in which Oxera advises.
- General interest in current affairs and a willingness to learn about the areas in which Oxera works (Desirable).
- Knowledge of content management systems and/or web editing (Desirable).
- An interest/experience in copywriting (Desirable).
- An eye for design (e.g. creating infographics) (Desirable).
- While not a requirement, proficiency in French, Italian or German would be an advantage.
