Oxbow Partners is a specialist insurance strategy consultancy recognised by the Financial Times as one of the UK’s leading advisory firms. From our London headquarters and recently opened New York office, we support the leadership teams of global insurance companies through strategy, operations and M&A engagements.

We are a niche, dynamic and growth-focused firm. As a member of our team, you’ll be building a business, not just delivering projects. We provide the opportunity to become a specialist in a fast-evolving sector. We empower our team members to grow as quickly as they can by avoiding unnecessary hierarchies and encouraging early responsibility. We work on challenging and industry-shaping topics, giving you exposure to senior leaders at some of the world’s largest institutions.

The Role: We are currently looking for a Manager to join our growing team. This is an opportunity to take ownership of high impact projects, work closely with senior clients, and play a meaningful role in shaping the growth of the firm.

As a Manager, you hold primary accountability for end-to-end project delivery or lead multiple workstreams within larger and more complex engagements, while continuing to shape client relationships. You are responsible for both the what, defining outcomes and impact, and the how, setting the approach, sequencing, and execution. As you develop in your role, your focus will evolve from hands-on delivery to orchestrating teams, clients, and stakeholders. You are not only expected to deliver high quality work, but to define how it should be delivered, guide others through ambiguity, and increasingly contribute to the firm’s commercial growth and long-term direction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Leadership and Delivery: Own delivery of consulting engagements, including approach, timelines, and quality of output. Structure complex problems into clear workstreams and guide teams towards actionable solutions. Oversee analysis and outputs, ensuring strong insight and clarity. Shape presentations and recommendations to be commercially relevant and decision-focused. Balance hands-on involvement with effective delegation as team capability grows. Maintain alignment with Partners and proactively manage risks.
  • Client Management: Act as the primary day-to-day client lead. Build credibility through clear communication and sound judgement. Lead meetings and workshops, guiding clients towards insight and action. Work closely with senior stakeholders and contribute to executive level discussions. Anticipate client needs and help shape project direction.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, manage, and coach consultants. Delegate effectively while maintaining accountability for overall quality. Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment. Act as a line manager, supporting performance and career development. Structure workplans and ensure coordinated delivery across the team.
  • Business Development and Firm Building: Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities to extend engagements. Contribute to proposals, pitches, and commercial discussions. Develop thought leadership and intellectual capital. Take an active role in shaping the future of the firm and supporting its growth. Build your own client network and areas of expertise over time.

Who are we looking for:

  • 4-8 years’ experience in strategy consulting, ideally within financial services or insurance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to structure complex challenges.
  • Confident communicator, able to engage senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and deliver high quality outcomes.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous environments with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Commercially aware, with an interest in contributing to business development.
  • Motivated by impact, ownership, and continuous development.
