In this role, you’ll lead efforts to maintain the highest HSE standards across the entire project lifecycle – from development and construction through to energisation.Your focus will be on ensuring full compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations while fostering a culture of safety among employees, contractors, suppliers, and consultants. This includes carrying out risk assessments, implementing best practices, and aligning operations with legal requirements and internal HSE systems.The RoleDevelop and implement HSE documentation in line with UK legislation, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001.Advise and guide stakeholders on health, safety, and environmental best practices, promoting a positive HSE culture.Plan and set HSE objectives, priorities, and performance standards for short and long-term goals.Audit and review HSE systems to drive continuous improvement.Conduct risk assessments, identify hazards, and implement control measures.Monitor compliance through regular site inspections, ensuring adherence to regulations, policies, and CDM 2015 requirements.Coordinate with project teams and contractors to ensure safe working practices.Oversee PPE usage and enforce collective and personal protective measures.Manage incident reporting and investigation, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.Deliver HSE training programs, including inductions, toolbox talks, and specialised sessions.Develop emergency plans and drills to ensure preparedness.Act as point of contact for regulatory authorities during inspections and resolve compliance issues.Participate in HSE meetings with internal teams, contractors, and suppliers.Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, training, and safety documentation.Report monthly HSE KPIs to track performance and progress.RequirementsA relevant third-level qualification in health and safety management, environment, engineering – construction sector or a related field.Professional certifications such as the NEBOSH General Certificate or IOSH Managing Safely.In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, regulations, and standards.Knowledge of ISO Management Systems: ISO 45001 and 14001.Minimum of 3-5 years Health & Safety experience within the construction industry, preferably on large scale energy projects or HV projects.Experience in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and delivering health and safety training.Analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify hazards and recommend appropriate control measures.Attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Proficient in communication, resource management and the use of software, particularly Microsoft Office suite.Valid driver\’s license for UK.
