Summary Of The Role

Reporting to the Planning Supervisor, the Transport Planner will join a busy team planning bulk bitumen and gas deliveries. This role is directly responsible for ensuring that all customers are supplied with bitumen in the safest and most cost-effective manner, while providing excellent customer service.

Key Duties And Responsibilities

  • Planning work across multiple locations with multiple drivers in line with the customers' expectations and in accordance with WTD and driver hours regulations.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service by meeting or exceeding all KPIs in line with the contractual requirements of the customer.
  • Directly supervising the daily activities of all drivers and managing all operational issues, providing all required out-of-hours operational support.
  • Responsible for providing plans to the customer in a timely manner based on their relevant orders.
  • Controlling the contract on a daily basis, making any changes where possible when needed.
  • Setting up daily diaries with the resource, trucks, and trailers.

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week, shift start times at 6am, 9am, 10am, and 11am Monday to Friday and 1 in 4 weekends.

Requirements

Essential: The successful individual will -

  • Have appropriate logistics/planning experience.
  • Have the ability to work a shift pattern that covers mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Live within a commutable distance.
  • Demonstrate a high level of attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Be proficient in IT, particularly Microsoft Office - Outlook and Excel.
  • Have the ability to interpret data accordingly and to prioritise tasks in line with business needs.
  • Be flexible in their working hours, and have the ability to cover shifts when required.

Desirable: The successful individual will:

  • Have working knowledge of UK geography.
  • Have an understanding of Drivers Hours Regulations.
  • Be CPC qualified, or hold other transport industry qualifications.
