Location: Huddersfield with expected travel

Role Purpose:

The job holder will report to the Gas Contract Manager supporting them to ensure that excellent service and SHEQ performance are delivered across all Gas Contracts. There will also be a strategic and tactical relationship with the Gas planning team in Huddersfield, leading and coaching to ensure the best possible outcomes for our Gas Customers. The Operation Transport Managers based in Immingham will report directly to this role and the job holder will respond to the Regional Operations Transport Manager for the Midlands.

Key duties:

  • To successfully deliver the yearly Fuels SHEQ plan (Immingham) and ensure that its progress and effectiveness is robustly managed through their Field Operations team.
  • Provide leadership, development and support to the Gas planning team located in Huddersfield and the field operations team located in Immingham.
  • Provide Gas centric advice and knowledge to the wider business whilst demonstrating our company values.
  • Support the Gas Contract Manager to ensure that a positive, strong relationship with all Gas clients is maintained.
  • Maintaining positive Industrial Relations across all Gas contracts and ensuring all Field Ops colleagues are engaged and aware of the wider business goals within the Gas contracts.
  • To support the Contract Manager in the tactical delivery of improvement projects and initiatives on all Gas Contracts.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all processes are appropriate and implemented to manage and steward safety, customer service, regulatory compliance, industrial relations, resource provision, resource utilisation and other key efficiency parameters.
  • Ensure safety incidents under their purview are investigated effectively.
  • Working closely with the Gas planning team, ensuring that detailed long-term customer forecasts are obtained and challenged, ensuring that sufficient resources (assets and people) are in place in order to be able to meet customer requirements during peak and off-peak periods.
  • Work with ROTMs to ensure adequate controls are in place to have a reliable effective recruitment pipeline on all Gas contracts in all locations. With all new recruits being trained in line with the business requirement and gas/fuel/bitumen specific competencies contained within the Gap Analysis.
  • Directly and through their team build and maintain excellent relationships with Customers, Trade Unions and other Oxalis departments to successfully deliver the business objectives.
  • Liaise with resource teams to ensure weekly resource targets are met on all Gas contracts.
  • Update resource forecasts in line with customer volume forecasts.
  • Act as primary point of contact for Gas customers as required.

Skills and Experience:

  • Ideally have performed role where multi-site operational teams and cross functional planning teams have been led and influenced.
  • Experience of delivering excellence and managing constructive relationships with both SMEs and larger blue-chip clients.
  • Proven experience in developing and dynamically managing complex, fast-moving national plans, with the resilience and judgement to flex operations under pressure and ensure continuity of supply during periods of supply constraints.
  • Full detailed ownership and experience of managing high value (£ms) operational P&Ls. (Desirable)
  • To ideally have had experience of working with Trade Unions at local and regional levels. (Desirable)
