Role Summary
To provide a clear point of escalation and out of hours stand-in for the HCC management team. This senior role within the control team will have full responsibility for the team completing the control shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Arrange adequate desk cover, maintain shift rotas and delegate tasks to ensure effective handling of workload.
- Act as a point of escalation for team members, customers and the Field Management Team.
- Be accountable for team performance on dropped loads, call handling and data collection.
- Ensure a dynamic approach of the team towards the execution of the plan to ensure customer performance indicators are adhered to.
- Providing out of hours continuation of the customer service department without interruption to the performance of the function.
- Ensuring consistent customer communication to ensure customer is kept fully informed of any amendments to their delivery.
- Identify training requirements and arrange and deliver appropriate training for new starters and existing staff.
- Periodically review performance of new starters and team members in conjunction with the Operations Supervisor and Operations Manager.
- Act as cover for the Operations Supervisor.
Working Hours: Average of 37.5 Hours per week on a rotating shift pattern covering days, nights and weekends.
Requirements
Essential
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to build effective working relationships.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Be proficient in IT, particularly Microsoft Office - Outlook and Excel.
- Have a good use of intuition and problem solving skills for productive outcomes.
- Have experience working in the transport industry, ideally as a Controller.
Desirable
- Have experience of supervising, or coaching and training staff in a similar role.
- Have experience working in a unionised environment.
