Role Description The Deputy Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Catford, supporting the management and delivery of care services for young people. The role involves overseeing day-to-day operations, including staff scheduling, supervision, and ensuring that care plans are implemented effectively. The Deputy Manager will monitor the wellbeing and progress of young people, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with regulatory and safeguarding standards. This position works closely with the Manager to lead the team, support staff development, and promote a positive, structured environment. The Deputy Manager will also liaise with external agencies, families, and professionals to coordinate support and maintain strong working relationships.

Qualifications

  • Experience in residential or community-based care for young people, with strong knowledge of safeguarding and best practices in youth support.
  • Proven skills in team leadership, staff supervision, and day-to-day service management within a care or social services setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust with young people, colleagues, families, and external partners.
  • Competence in documentation, report writing, and maintaining accurate records in line with regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Ability to remain calm, make sound decisions under pressure, and handle challenging situations in a professional and compassionate manner.
  • Relevant professional qualification in social care, youth work, or a related field (e.g., NVQ/QCF Level 3 or above), or equivalent experience.
  • Basic IT skills for managing electronic records, communication, and scheduling systems.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including some evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required.
