Role Description
This is a part‑time 11+ and GCSE Maths Tutor role based in Chester, offered on a hybrid basis with a combination of in‑person sessions and some remote work from home. The tutor will deliver engaging small‑group and one‑to‑one maths lessons focused on 11+ and GCSE topics, including arithmetic, problem‑solving, and algebra, following OwlPath Academy’s curriculum and teaching resources. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include planning and adapting lessons based on diagnostic assessments, monitoring learner progress, and providing clear feedback to students and parents through the platform’s dashboards. The tutor will maintain accurate records of attendance and performance, collaborate with the wider tutoring team to share best practices, and uphold safeguarding and data protection standards at all times.
Qualifications
- Strong subject expertise in Mathematics and Algebra, with the ability to explain concepts clearly and confidently at 11+ and GCSE levels.
- Experience in Tutoring and Online Tutoring, including planning structured lessons and supporting learners with different abilities.
- Excellent Communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with young learners and communicate progress to parents or caregivers.
- Previous experience teaching or tutoring UK curriculum maths (11+, SATs, GCSE) is highly desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrable experience.
- Comfort using digital learning tools and virtual classroom platforms to deliver high‑quality hybrid instruction.
- Commitment to inclusive, learner‑centered teaching, with patience, reliability, and strong organizational skills.
- Eligibility to work in the UK and willingness to undergo enhanced background checks in line with safeguarding requirements.
