About the Role

The Director, Pharma Business Development Diagnostic has the opportunity to grow our business with pharmaceutical companies by generating new leads, securing strategic partnerships, managing key accounts, and contributing to the go-to-market strategy to implement digital pathology diagnostics that improve clinical decision-making and patient outcomes. You will directly manage your portfolio of work with key clients and be responsible for identifying and closing new business opportunities with a focus on long-term renewable engagements. Reporting to the VP Business Development, you will promote Owkin Diagnostics' AI/ML technology to enhance biomarker discovery, clinical trials, market access, and commercial efforts in pharma. The role requires cross-team collaboration with Data, R&Tech, Product and Strategy, Pathology and Medical, Legal and Regulatory teams.

What You Will Do

  • Drive revenue growth by engaging major pharmaceutical clients across C-Suite, therapeutic leadership, R&D/data science, translational research & biomarker, precision medicine, and diagnostic/companion diagnostic teams.
  • Secure strategic new business while growing existing accounts, with emphasis on renewable long-term engagements, through leading proposals and managing contracting processes.
  • Engage the market with Owkin Diagnostics’ AI/ML capabilities to discover new digital pathology biomarkers, develop AI diagnostic tools, support CDx/IVD strategies, and identify patients in clinical routine.
  • Contribute to scaling the company and implementing business development solutions; support market positioning and the go-to-market strategy with competitive and market intelligence.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment with client needs and market positioning, delivering world-class digital pathology diagnostics.
  • Build Owkin’s reputation as a pioneer in AI and digital pathology diagnostics within pharma and biotech through thought leadership.

About You

  • Proven track record in business development and account management within pharma, biotech or diagnostic sectors, with experience in high-value Diagnostic and CDx collaborations.
  • Experience driving revenue growth and closing high-value Diagnostics/CDx collaborations, clinical trials and/or service partnerships with pharma.
  • Deep understanding of Pharma & Diagnostics, including drug development, clinical trials, and CDx/IVD solutions, especially in AI/ML contexts.
  • Strong networks across R&D/Precision Medicine/Diagnostics in the pharmaceutical industry and ability to build consultative relationships.
  • University degree with strong scientific and business background; MBA preferred; Masters/PhD in Pharmacy, Medicine, Molecular Biology, Epidemiology, HEOR, Genetics or Oncology.
  • Proactive, independent, tenacious and adaptable; maintains integrity and professionalism; strong sense of humor valued.
  • Excellent English communication and writing skills; proven ability to run effective sales, business, and negotiation meetings.
  • Computer literacy (Google Suite, Slack, Salesforce, Mac).
  • Interest in innovative research and AI as it relates to clinical diagnosis.
  • Experience in a PE/VC-backed startup environment is a plus.
