We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and conscientious HGV Trailer Technician to support our Carrington operation working a Monday-Friday day shift pattern – to be discussed at interview.

Hours: 50 hours per week inclusive of lunch breaks

Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Trailer Technician with strong mechanical knowledge and experience in equipment repair, focusing on trailers. The role requires a hands‑on approach to diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and ensuring all trailers are in optimal working condition.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair trailers dealing with mechanical breakdowns and damage to restore vehicles to required performance to minimise or avoid unnecessary delays.
- Provide technical knowledge and advice to other team members ensuring the best decisions are made.
- Carry out weekly inspections of vehicles.
- Travel around local sites.
- Carry out preventative planned maintenance and repairs.
- Carry out all other duties as directed by the Company.
- Availability to cover call outs.
- Read and interpret schematics to troubleshoot issues effectively.
- Use hand tools and power tools to perform repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Weld components as necessary to ensure structural integrity.
- Assemble parts and systems according to specifications.
- Operate forklifts safely to move trailers and equipment within the workshop.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding their trailer needs.
Experience
- Proven experience in mechanical repair, preferably with trailers or similar equipment.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems related to trailer functionality.
- Familiarity with using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
- Experience operating forklifts is advantageous but not essential; training may be provided.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, demonstrating an ability to provide quality customer service.
