Owens Group is a fast developing, multi-site organisation with a large diverse customer base. We are looking for an enthusiastic & conscientious HGV Trailer Technician to support our Carrington operation working a Monday‑Friday day shift pattern – to be discussed at interview.
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Trailer Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and experience in equipment repair, with a focus on trailers. This role requires a hands‑on approach to diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and ensuring that all trailers are in optimal working condition. The successful applicant will be adept at using various tools and equipment while maintaining a high standard of customer service.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair trailers dealing with mechanical breakdowns and damage to restore vehicles to required performance in order to minimise or avoid unnecessary delays.
- Provide technical knowledge/advice/skill to other team members ensuring the best decisions are made.
- Carry out weekly inspections of vehicles.
- Travel around local sites.
- Carry out preventative planned maintenance and repairs.
- Carry out all other duties as directed by the Company.
- Availability to cover call outs.
- Read and interpret schematics to troubleshoot issues effectively.
- Use hand tools and power tools to perform repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Weld components as necessary to ensure structural integrity.
- Assemble parts and systems according to specifications.
- Operate forklifts safely to move trailers and equipment within the workshop.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area, adhering to safety protocols at all times.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding their trailer needs.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in mechanical repair, preferably with trailers or similar equipment.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems related to trailer functionality.
- Familiarity with using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment.
- Experience operating forklifts is advantageous but not essential; training may be provided.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, demonstrating an ability to provide quality customer service.
Hours & Shifts
Monday to Friday, 50 hours per week inclusive of lunch breaks. Salary £18.00 per hour.
