The Company
We are working with a international Fintech Start-Up in the payments space who are completely changing the game for how payments work for small businesses. They have built a platform that massively reduces costs giving small merchants a bigger chance of success and much more flexibility.
This rapidly scaling company is founded by entrpreneurs with a serious background in building businesses, they have secured millions of funding from some of the UK\'s most well recognised venture capitalists and are now building out the Backend Engineering team to support the growth.
The Product has a strong presence around Europe and the UK, they have also recently launched in America.
About The Role
You will be joining the small but scaling backend engineering team, you\'ll play a key role in building the services that power the payments platform.
With the companies product growing at such a rapid rate, you will be taking on complex technical challenges and building system that is robust and able to scale. You will be working with the lastest cloud natve technologies in a cross functional team and delivering real value to customers.

- Design, implement, and maintain backend services supporting a customer-facing platform and third-party system integrations.
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code, following best practices and team standards.
- Drive the delivery of mid-level features from initial design to deployment, ensuring quality and stability.
- Develop and maintain a robust suite of unit and integration tests to support service reliability.
- Help improve automation efforts, testing frameworks, and continuous integration/delivery pipelines.
- Work cross-functionally with product teams, analysts, and engineers to deliver well-rounded, effective solutions.
- Participate in architectural and technical discussions, contributing ideas for system design and process improvements.
- Support the growth of junior team members through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
- Stay current with modern development tools, technologies, and industry standards.
- Actively engage in team retrospectives and knowledge-sharing sessions to foster continuous improvement.

- Strong experience working as a Backend Engineer
- Experience working with either Java, Kotlin, Typescript & AWS
- Experience with SQL, SQS & NoSQL
- Experience working with Kubernetes
- Understanding of platform engineering / DevOps
- Experience using gRPC is a bonus
- Experience using other languages is also a bonus
