The Company:

Trust, identity, and secure access are becoming foundational layers of modern AI-enabled software at scale. We’re partnering with a globally recognised technology company building products used by millions of users across research, AI, and enterprise environments. Their platform enables organisations to build better systems through high-quality human feedback, data infrastructure, and trusted user interactions. Following sustained growth and increasing global adoption, the business is investing heavily into its core platform engineering function - particularly around authentication, authorisation, and identity architecture as the platform scales internationally. This is a highly product-centric engineering environment where technical leadership, customer empathy, and engineering quality all carry equal weight.

The Role:

You’ll join as a hands-on Technical Lead within a senior product engineering organisation responsible for building and scaling critical platform capabilities used across the company’s ecosystem. A major focus of the role is leading the evolution of authentication and authorisation systems - helping shape secure, scalable identity infrastructure across both internal and customer-facing products. You’ll remain deeply technical while leading architectural direction, mentoring engineers, and partnering closely with Product, Design, Security, and Infrastructure teams to deliver highly scalable systems end-to-end. The environment is fast-moving, product-led, and highly collaborative - with strong engineering standards and genuine autonomy.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Leading the design and evolution of authentication and authorisation systems
  • Driving architecture across IAM, SSO, RBAC, OAuth2/OIDC, and user access workflows
  • Building backend services and APIs in Python
  • Leading high-impact technical initiatives from concept through production
  • Partnering cross-functionally to shape product direction and platform strategy
  • Mentoring and supporting engineers across technical design and delivery
  • Helping scale engineering practices, reliability, and developer experience
  • Balancing speed, pragmatism, and long-term maintainability

This is a highly ownership-driven Product Engineering environment where Technical Leads are expected to think commercially, technically, and from the customer perspective.

Tech Stack:

  • Python
  • Django, FastAPI / modern backend frameworks
  • OAuth2 / OIDC
  • Okta / Auth0 / identity platforms
  • PostgreSQL
  • AWS
  • TypeScript (exposure beneficial)
  • Modern CI/CD & cloud infrastructure

Why Join:

  • Highly visible platform engineering challenges at global scale
  • Strong engineering culture with low ego and high autonomy
  • Direct influence on critical platform architecture
  • Product-led environment with real technical ownership
  • Remote-first across the UK with London collaboration space
  • Competitive compensation package including bonus and equity
  • Excellent benefits and long-term growth opportunities

If you’re an experienced Technical Lead who enjoys solving complex identity and platform engineering challenges - while building products with meaningful real-world impact - this is an exceptional opportunity to shape systems used globally.
