About The Role

You will be joining as a hands-on technical leader on the Individual Contributor (IC) track, taking ownership of the technical vision and system design for a major expanding engineering division. They value engineers who move seamlessly between deep-dive debugging and high-level system architecture, partnering closely with over 6 engineering teams to raise the technical bar across the organisation. Beyond driving core Python backend development, you will influence broad technical strategy, participate in governance, and guide cross-team architecture to prevent unnecessary complexity and coupling.

Requirements For The Role

  • Extensive experience building, delivering, and scaling backend systems from development through to production, specifically within data-intensive environments.
  • Deep expertise in distributed systems, APIs, data pipelines, complex relational domains, and entity resolution/mapping.
  • Proven experience with platform modularisation, database decoupling, and service-oriented or event-driven architectures.
  • High proficiency in Python (or similar backend languages), alongside familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and containerisation (Kubernetes).
  • A strong product and customer-centric mindset, comfort driving clarity through ambiguity, and a history of end-to-end technical project ownership.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to create clear technical documentation and align both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
