Head of Engineering, Full Stack | AI Start-Up, Legal | 3 Days PW In London Office | Up to £200,000 + Benefits and Equity

We have partnered with an exciting, venture-backed AI start-up at the forefront of innovation in the legal space.

For too long, the legal system has been broken, it is too slow, expensive, and leaves consumers at the mercy of legal entities that have become masters at making things too confusing for the average person to understand.

This company is looking to change that.

Led by an experienced founder with an impressive track record of building tech start-ups, this business is already generating £6,000,000 ARR in less than 6 months.

Having built the bare bones of their product with a core team of 4 engineers, they are now looking for a Head of Engineering.

Initially, you will work as a hands‑on technical leader, crafting technical solutions and working alongside the team to ship and deliver products quickly to customers.

Secondly, you will scale the team—with a goal of growing to over 20 engineers by the end of the year.

You will introduce technical excellence and scalable processes to build a robust engineering function.

Responsibilities for the role

  • Initially be very hands‑on—building products and shipping quickly (Type Script, GCP).
  • Build out AI agentic systems.
  • Motivate and enable the current engineering team.
  • Set standards for technical excellence and introduce scalable engineering processes.
  • Hire and onboard 20+ engineers over the next year.
  • Work closely with the Founder and Product teams to align engineering goals across the business.
  • Oversee team reviews, code reviews, and all core engineering management duties.

Requirements for the role

  • Strong track record of combining people management with hands‑on technical execution (and a willingness to do both).
  • Proven experience scaling start‑ups in fast‑paced environments.
  • Practical experience working with AI agentic workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, structure, and mentor engineering teams.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to influence cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Background in Full‑Stack engineering (open to various tech stacks).

What’s in it for you

  • Meaningful equity in a high‑growth, early‑stage start‑up.
  • Base salary up to £200,000 depending on experience.
  • Hybrid setup (3 days per week in the London office).
