Owen Mumford are looking to hire an enthusiastic Senior Device Technologist! Could this be your next role?

Scope: As the Senior Device Technologist you will join the R&D department to provide technical leadership in device testing, evaluation, and stability assessment of medical devices, including drug delivery devices such as auto-injectors, pen injectors, pen needles, and lancing devices. The role combines hands-on technical expertise with project leadership and client-facing responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Device Design Engineers to establish the test matrices for Medical devices in R&D.
  • Define and execute device testing strategies, including functional testing, usability, robustness, and stability studies for the different devices coming through R&D.
  • Oversee verification and validation activities in accordance with ISO 13485 and FDA/EMA expectations.
  • Interpret and report data from device testing and stability programs.
  • Support regulatory submissions with technical documentation and justifications.
  • Act as technical lead on client projects, providing expert guidance and problem-solving.
  • Mentor junior device technologists and review technical work.
  • Provide technical input into design controls, risk management (ISO 14971), and usability engineering (IEC 62366).
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of laboratory methods and quality systems.
  • Align with Regulatory on strategy for verification and validation activities to support device approvals.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Significant experience in medical device or combination product development.
  • Deep knowledge of injection devices and associated testing methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and quality requirements for medical devices and combination products.
  • Experience authoring and reviewing technical reports and protocols.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with notified bodies or regulatory agencies. (desirable)
  • Exposure to human factors/usability studies. (desirable)
  • Leadership or line management experience. (desirable)
