Owen Mumford is looking to hire an ambitious Metrology Team Manager! Could this be your next role?
As the Metrology Team Manager you will lead and manage the day-to-day operations and strategic development of the Metrology function, ensuring the timely and effective delivery of metrology services across the business.
The role is responsible for the leadership, performance, development and resource planning of the Metrology team, ensuring that robust, accurate and reliable measurement data is delivered in support of manufacturing, validation, product development and business improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading and managing the overall performance, effectiveness and strategic direction of the Metrology function.
- Inspiring, developing and managing the performance of the Metrology team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Ensuring metrology requests are effectively prioritised and completed within agreed timescales to support business objectives.
- Delivering accurate, reliable and repeatable measurement data to support manufacturing, validation, research and development, new product introduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Analysing, interpreting and trending measurement data to provide meaningful insights that support informed business decisions.
- Identifying, planning and delivering metrology and cross-functional improvement projects, ensuring they are completed to agreed scope, quality, budget and timescales.
- Planning resources effectively to ensure the Metrology function has the capability and capacity to meet both current and future business demands across Manufacturing, R&D and other key functions.
- Driving continuous improvement by reviewing and enhancing metrology processes, systems, equipment and ways of working to improve efficiency, quality and capability.
- Ensuring full compliance with company quality systems, regulatory requirements, Health & Safety policies and environmental standards.
- Building strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and collaborating effectively with external suppliers and service providers where required.
- Championing a \"Right First Time\" approach, embedding best practice and promoting a high-performance culture across the Metrology function.
To be successful in this role, you will need
- HNC/HND or equivalent
- Skilled with manual and CMM activities.
- Significant experience of the measurement of plastic injection moulded components.
- Understanding of statistics for metrology and manufacturing analysis.
- Demonstrable experience and understanding in supervision of metrology processes.
- Experience of product development/Design for Manufacture for high volume products.
- Experience of quality management systems
- Management and resolution of conflict
- Ability to summarise, consolidate and report effectively
- Strong communication skills
