We are working with an established and highly respected organisation within the built environment sector, seeking an experienced Lead Structural Engineer to provide technical leadership across a range of complex and innovative structural projects. This is a senior role combining technical expertise, team leadership, and strategic input, offering the opportunity to influence project delivery, client relationships, and long-term capability development.

The Role

As Lead Structural Engineer, you will take ownership of structural engineering activities, leading both project delivery and technical direction. You will act as a key point of expertise within the team, supporting complex enquiries and contributing to the wider growth of the function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage structural engineering activities aligned to project objectives and growth plans
  • Oversee project delivery, ensuring compliance with relevant BS and EN standards
  • Develop and interpret structural testing regimes (static and dynamic)
  • Manage and coordinate laboratory-based testing activities
  • Provide guidance and leadership to engineers, technicians, and supporting teams
  • Act as the technical authority on complex structural matters
  • Support client engagement and contribute to business development activities
  • Oversee inspection, analysis, and reporting across UK construction methods
  • Contribute to the ongoing strategic development of the engineering team

Requirements

  • Chartered Structural Engineer (essential)
  • Strong knowledge of BS / EN standards and codes
  • Proven experience in structural behaviour and mechanics
  • Experience managing or mentoring technical teams
  • Strong technical reporting and proposal writing capability
  • Good understanding of UK construction methods
  • Experience or exposure to structural fire engineering
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, FEA tools, and MS Office
  • Commercial awareness and ability to support client-facing activity
