The Opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Inspection Quality Assurance Engineer to join a highly successful engineering and manufacturing business. This role is ideal for someone with a strong inspection background who enjoys working in a precision engineering environment, ensuring products meet the highest quality and regulatory standards.

You will play a key role in planning and conducting First Article Inspections (FAIRs), supporting quality audit activities, inspection compliance and driving continuous improvement across inspection and quality processes. The position offers a varied workload, working closely with manufacturing, engineering and quality teams to ensure products are delivered right first time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and conduct First Article Inspection (FAIR) activities in line with customer and industry requirements.
  • Complete and review First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs), ensuring compliance with AS9102 standards.
  • Carry out quality and patrol inspection audits across manufacturing operations.
  • Produce audit reports, quality metrics and corrective action documentation.
  • Investigate non-conformances and support root cause analysis activities.
  • Ensure adherence to Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and company procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, inspection and audit processes.
  • Review engineering documentation, specifications and technical drawings.
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to ensure quality requirements are met.
  • Support training and knowledge-sharing activities within the inspection function.

About You

  • Previous experience within a Quality Engineer, Inspection Engineer or Quality Assurance role.
  • Strong experience completing FAIRs (First Article Inspection Reports).
  • Understanding of AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing, engineering or aerospace environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of quality audit processes and inspection methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Inspection Equipment Experience
  • You should be confident using a range of precision inspection equipment including:
    • Verniers
    • Micrometers
    • Depth gauges
    • Height gauges
    • Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
    • Other precision measurement tools

Desirable

  • Experience within aerospace or other highly regulated manufacturing sectors.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 quality standards.
  • Experience using quality management systems and ERP software.
  • Engineering apprenticeship, HNC, HND or equivalent engineering qualification.
