Due to ongoing operational requirements, my client is looking to appoint a Maintenance Foreman to support the Maintenance Manager and take a hands-on role in keeping machinery, equipment, and site facilities running safely and efficiently. This is a practical, varied role within a busy production environment, ideal for someone with a strong engineering background who enjoys fault-finding, site maintenance, and supporting day-to-day operations.
What you will be doing:
- Carrying out routine and preventative maintenance on machinery and production equipment, including CNC machinery
- Diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, and control-system faults
- Coordinating with external service engineers and contractors when required
- Maintaining accurate maintenance logs and service records
- Carrying out and recording calibration checks on measuring equipment
- Completing general site maintenance, including repairs to buildings, doors, roofs, and infrastructure
- Supporting the upkeep of heating, ventilation, extraction, and compressed air systems
- Ensuring workshop tools, utilities, and equipment are maintained safely
- Conducting site inspections and identifying hazards or potential improvements
- Assisting the Maintenance Manager with planning and prioritising maintenance activities
- Providing hands-on support and guidance to junior maintenance staff
- Ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with company procedures
What we are looking for:
- General engineering background (mechanical and/or electrical)
- Strong experience maintaining machinery and production equipment
- CNC machinery experience advantageous
- Knowledge of pneumatics, compressed air systems, and basic hydraulics
- Experience with property and general site maintenance
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Good communication skills and ability to liaise with contractors and suppliers
Health & safety:
- Commitment to working safely and promoting safe working practices
- Experience working to health, safety, and environmental procedures
- Involvement in risk assessments, safety checks, and incident reporting
Desirable (but not essential):
- Formal engineering qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds)
- Background in manufacturing or production environments
- Basic IT skills for maintenance logging
- Knowledge of health & safety legislation
- Forklift certification
