Owen Fabrications Ltd, a well-established structural steel fabricator based in West London (Greenford), is seeking an experienced Estimator with a solid background in structural steel projects. This is a great opportunity to play a key role in pricing and securing works across a variety of commercial and industrial steel schemes throughout the UK and occasionally across Europe. As a family-run business with a strong reputation for quality and reliability, we specialise in the fabrication and installation of structural steel components for major developments.

The successful candidate will work closely with our commercial and project teams to manage tender processes from initial enquiry to final submission.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for structural steel projects, from small-scale works to large commercial and industrial developments.
  • Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to ensure clear understanding of project scope.
  • Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams to gather technical data and up-to-date pricing.
  • Identify potential project risks and cost-saving opportunities, contributing to value engineering discussions.
  • Ensure all estimates are compliant with client requirements, industry standards, and company procedures.
  • Support the wider commercial team and assist with the preparation of final tender submissions.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in estimating within the structural steel or metalwork industry.
  • Strong knowledge of steel fabrication processes, materials, and current market rates.
  • Experience using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office suite (especially Excel).
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tenders and tight deadlines.
  • Clear communicator with strong organisational and numerical skills.
  • Background in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction, or equivalent experience preferred.
