I’m currently working with an established business within the power generation and low-carbon energy sector who are looking to recruit an experienced

Mechanical Design / Process Design Engineer to join their growing team.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a background in energy projects, power generation and technical design to take ownership of a varied portfolio of technically challenging projects.

The role will involve leading the mechanical design of projects from initial concept through to commissioning and operation, with exposure to

CHP, Tri-Generation and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) .

The Role

  • Leading the mechanical design of energy projects
  • Producing engineering specifications and technical documentation
  • Creating Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs)
  • Producing Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Developing functional and technical design documents Overseeing mechanical system design
  • Coordinating CAD design activities
  • Carrying out pipework and pump sizing calculations
  • Supporting safety assessments and CDM requirements
  • Liaising with project managers, suppliers and clients
  • Supporting project budgeting and cost-effective design delivery
  • Managing supplier performance and technical sign-off
  • Providing on-site technical support
  • Carrying out layout surveys and supporting site troubleshooting
  • Supporting projects through design, delivery and commissioning
  • Contributing to engineering quality and continuous improvement

You’ll ideally have

  • HNC/HND or degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ experience within energy projects, power generation or a similar sector
  • Strong mechanical engineering experience
  • Experience with power generation systems
  • Experience with pipework and ventilation design
  • Experience with technical project management and design development
  • Knowledge of CDM and health & safety requirements
  • Experience producing engineering specifications and technical documentation
  • Competent with Microsoft Office
  • Experience using Auto CAD 3D or equivalent
  • Strong problem-solving and technical communication skills
  • Good customer, supplier and stakeholder management skills
  • Full UK driving licence

Experience with CHP, Tri-Generation, BESS or other low-carbon energy technologies would be advantageous.
