Job Description

Job Title: CMM EngineerLocation: Clydebank, ScotlandEmployment Type: Full-Time / PermanentSalary: £45,000-£50,000 Industry: Manufacturing / Aerospace / AutomotiveAbout the Role:We are seeking an experienced CMM Engineer to join our quality team in Clydebank. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the dimensional accuracy of precision components through the use of coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). You will be responsible for programming, operating, and maintaining CMM equipment and supporting quality assurance across the production process.Key Responsibilities:
  • Program, set up, and operate CMM machines (using software such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, or similar).
  • Interpret technical drawings and CAD models to develop accurate measurement routines.
  • Generate detailed inspection reports and document measurement results.
  • Liaise with manufacturing, design, and quality teams to resolve non-conformances and drive continuous improvement.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action processes.
  • Ensure CMM equipment is maintained, calibrated, and operating to required standards.
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles effectively.

Requirements:

  • Technical qualification such as degree, HND, HNC, NVQ/BTEC, level 3 or above
  • Extensive calibration & CMM knowledge
  • Proven experience as a CMM Engineer or Quality Inspector in a precision engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in CMM programming (PC-DMIS, Calypso, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and metrology principles.

Desirable:

  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, or high-precision component industries.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 / AS9100 quality management systems.
