An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Sales Manager to join a leading specialist in Combined Heat and Power (CHP) solutions. This is a technically and commercially focused sales role, where you’ll be responsible for developing opportunities and selling a comprehensive range of CHP solutions from 20kW through to 2.5MW+. You’ll manage the full sales process, from initial customer engagement and understanding their energy requirements through to developing the solution, preparing commercial proposals, negotiating contracts and ultimately securing the order. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience in CHP sales, energy solutions or a closely related sector who enjoys working with customers at senior level and combining technical knowledge with commercial acumen.
As Sales Manager, you’ll develop new business opportunities while building strong, long-term relationships with customers, consultants and sales partners. You’ll need to understand both the technical and commercial aspects of CHP and be able to identify whether opportunities are economically and practically viable. You’ll work closely with internal teams across sales, projects, service, operations and finance, as well as liaising with colleagues internationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Sell a broad range of CHP engines and energy solutions from 20kW to 2.5MW+.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, consultants and sales partners.
- Identify and develop new sales opportunities and build a strong project pipeline.
- Understand the energy market, political landscape and industry developments affecting CHP and energy technology.
- Advise customers on challenges including grid connections, Net Zero requirements and available funding.
- Carry out technical and economic appraisals of potential CHP schemes using energy data, site visits and tender documentation.
- Develop technically and commercially viable solutions across: Cogeneration, including LTHW; Tri-generation, including steam solutions; Quad-generation, including absorption chilling.
- Manage sales enquiries from initial engagement through to contract completion.
- Prepare and submit detailed tender responses, including technical and commercial pricing.
- Lead client meetings, site visits and commercial negotiations.
- Manage opportunities through to successful order placement.
- Work closely with UK and German teams to develop and deliver solutions.
- Attend trade shows, conferences, networking events and industry meetings.
- Maintain accurate sales pipelines and consistently work towards sales and margin targets.
Essential Experience
- 2–3 years’ experience in CHP sales or a directly related field.
- Experience managing complex tender processes, including site visits, client meetings and developing detailed tender responses.
- Good understanding of CHP technology and applications.
- Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge within an engineering or energy environment.
- Good commercial and contract knowledge.
- Experience with financial analysis and complex Excel modelling.
- Ability to develop detailed technical and commercial proposals.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to confidently engage with senior stakeholders.
- Strong networking and relationship-building skills.
