Job Description
- Oversee all purchasing tasks, ensuring materials and supplies align with the allocated budget and to the correct specification requirements.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, production team, and suppliers to ensure the production schedules are met.
- Handle urgent and fast-turnaround orders with a responsive, hands-on approach.
- Negotiate with suppliers in order to get the best prices whilst maintaining strong professional relationships
- Document accurate price logs and purchasing records
- Identify opportunities to save on cost to improve the overall efficiency in purchasing

- Proven track record as a buyer within engineering or steel manufacturing
- Highly skilled with interpreting technical documents such as 2D Engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOM) to support accurate purchasing.
- Strong negotiation skills and being well organized to handle top priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across the business
- Experienced with Microsoft Office, purchasins, and SAGE systems.
- Desirable: knowledge of fabrication industries, material traceability, quality control requirements, and familiarity with ISO9001 standards.
