Working across the concept, design, engineering, manufacturing and construction phases to ensure the successful delivery of the subsea cables packages.
The role provides technical knowledge for defining the cable system basis of design, dynamic configuration selection (for floating), global and local analysis requirements, qualification and certification pathways, interface management, installation engineering, and risk reduction strategies required to support CfD bids, supply-chain engagement, and offshore execution.
Main Accountabilities:
General coordination of the technical aspects of the subsea cables packages throughout the project lifecycle, including coordination of contractors’ scope of works associated with the design, supply and installation of subsea cables.
Assessment of a wide range of risks in areas including: health and safety, programme, cost, quality and compliance with technical specifications.
Specific accountability shall include:
- Coordination of the engineering work to be delivered by potential and appointed EPC contractors and consultants to agreed programme and budget, including development of project requirements/specifications and review/acceptance of contractor deliverables.
- Discharge of consent conditions associated with the works.
- Supporting the quality management of the cable manufacture and testing process.
- Coordination and safe delivery of the construction phase of the works, including: construction procedure review and approval, co‑ordination and approval of RAMS, HAZID and HAZOPs, marine warranty approval process, coordination of offshore representatives, management of as‑installed documentation package and taking over/handover process.
- Supporting the project led scopes on boulder clearance, UXO clearance and scour protection construction impact surveys.
- Liaison with other work packages and functions within the project team, in order to deliver the package and manage interfaces.
- Identifying the need for specialist internal and external technical support and managing the technical aspects of procurement of specialist external support.
- Reporting progress on engineering and technical work throughout the project and the authoring and issue of technical notes and supporting materials to inform governance approvals.
- Promoting good practice in respect to quality, health, safety and environment within the subsea cables package, including ensuring all project procedures and policies are implemented.

- Facilitate technical workshops with suppliers to align on design drivers and qualification pathways.
- Support procurement in contract negotiation for cable supply and installation.
Manufacturing Oversight and Quality Management
- Oversee qualification of materials, armour wires, insulation systems, termination components.
- Ensure compliance with QA/QC standards and documentation traceability.
Execution accountabilities for the Caledonia North bottom-fixed project:
- Cable route and burial
- Termination and testing
- Vessel assurance measures.
Required Academic and Professional Experience:

- Working towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status is desirable.
- A recognised qualification in health and safety management, e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH or equivalent, is desirable.
- Experience of offshore working, e.g. in an Employer’s Representative or offshore engineer capacity, is desirable.
Required Knowledge:
- Experience across all project phases including design, manufacturing, construction, commissioning and handover is required.
- Project management processes and systems associated with the delivery of complex, multi-package construction projects.
