Reporting to the Head of Asset Integrity within the asset department of the business, Ocean Winds require a ‘SCADA and Systems Engineer’ to support SCADA and Network system assets to ensure they are managed safely and effectively for both routine maintenance and defect resolution activities. This will include hardware, software, integration, and commissioning support on all operational systems. To understand, maintain, develop, and implement robust and reliable communications infrastructure while ensuring Cyber Security. This role will likely grow to include support for other assets within the Ocean Winds portfolio at various levels of development. The team operates in close quarters with various departments within Ocean Winds where you would be expected to provide support when required on short notice.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • The ideal candidate will have various technical capabilities including knowledge of SCADA and Control Systems, their associated network topologies and configurations.
  • Ability in precision planning, coordinating and prioritising engineering activities and resources to get projects completed on time and on budget while being commercially intuitive relative to business and market needs.
  • Provide Technical Authority oversight of SCADA programs and projects.
  • Reviewing design plans, communicating with clients on work specifications, maintaining engineering processes, developing, and managing budgets.
  • To provide embedded focused technical and project management support to the operational and project teams to ensure the business can meet its goals.
  • To engage with multiple stakeholders at a senior level, both within and out with OW, to ensure that the business can operate to the highest standards of safety and technical performance.
  • Provide assistance in material infrastructure upgrades.

Required Academic and Professional Experience:

  • Degree qualified in a core engineering function, and the ability to demonstrate suitable experience in a similar role.
  • Applicable experience and other related professional qualifications will be considered.
  • Previous experience in a Lead/Senior Systems Engineer position will be valued.

Required Knowledge:

  • The ideal candidate will have various technical capabilities including knowledge of network topologies and MS SQL Database experience within corporate IT systems and data flow management would be of benefit.
  • Proven hands-on experience of MS Server Operating Software, 2008 R2 – 2012 R2, VMWare and/or HyperV and DL range HP Hardware and components.
  • Experience of designing engineering, and commissioning control room environments and associated systems would be an advantage.
  • Database infrastructure experience within Employers systems to ensure data flow management to 2nd and 3rd Tier SCADA systems and/or Historians.
  • Hands-on experience with modern and legacy Operating systems, CIS benchmarking, virtualisation environments and server hardware.
  • Knowledge of Regulatory and Grid Code Compliance would be an advantage.

Required Skills/Competencies:

  • Experienced in all stages of Project Management, including research, design, development and manufacturing, right through to installation and the final commissioning.
  • Ability to perform both safety, environmental and technical risk assessments to ensure that activities are managed safely and effectively, without unnecessary overreactions.
  • A thorough understanding of IT systems, communication networks and compliance for network security.
  • Competent in discussing technology that the successful candidate will have asset management responsibility for (SCADA, MS SQL Database, PLC coding, Grid Code Compliance).
  • Ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to be innovative to ensure that Ocean Winds is aware of emerging best practices, technologies, etc.

Other:

  • Ocean Winds has an international team of employees, and the working language is English. Candidates need to be fluent in English both spoken and written. Proficiency in other languages will be valued.
  • Ocean Winds operate a flexible working policy although the primary office location will be in Edinburgh. Buckie or Fraserburgh would be considered for the right candidate.
  • Requirement to travel for limited durations of time with short notice to other locations.
