Reporting to the Head of Asset Integrity, the Asset Integrity Engineer will lead the provision of electrical engineering support to operational projects in Ocean Winds’ portfolio. As an Electrical Engineer, you’ll be responsible for providing technical knowledge required to manage the integrity of operational assets within your area of expertise, where failure would have a major impact on safety, environmental, and commercial operation of the business.

You’ll be responsible for the management and operational support of electrical systems across electrical assets. The role focuses on operational performance, asset integrity, HV safety, maintenance planning, and fault response for wind turbines, substations, and export/array cables. The engineer ensures electrical systems deliver maximum availability while maintaining high standards of safety and regulatory compliance.

  • Lead in defining and implementing an Asset Integrity Management Strategy.
  • Liaise with and provide technical support to the site-based O&M team, including supporting warranty management.
  • Lead troubleshooting and technical response to electrical faults or alarms, including remote diagnostics and offshore intervention planning.
  • Utilise data analysis tools to monitor and assess asset behaviour, operational data, SCADA trends, and event logs to optimise availability and reduce unplanned outages.
  • Develop and manage maintenance strategies for HV/MV equipment: switchgear, transformers, converters, circuit breakers, protection relays, earthing systems, and cables.
  • Review inspection results (thermography, partial discharge, oil tests, insulation resistance, sheath testing, etc.) Provide high quality reporting to internal and external stakeholders as required.

Required Academic and Professional Experience:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
  • Significant experience in HV systems within offshore wind, utilities, transmission, or large-scale renewables.
  • HV Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status or ability to become authorised would be an advantage for this position.
  • Understanding of asset management frameworks (ISO 55001) and risk-based decision-making.
  • Full GWO offshore training and medical is required for this position (can be provided by the company).
  • High voltage electrical asset operation and maintenance.
  • Standards associated with electrical system design of grid connected power projects, including knowledge of key aspects of the UK regulatory regime such as the Grid Code and SQSS.
  • Experience working within Electrical Safety Rules and HV operational environments.
  • Knowledge of array/export cable integrity management and offshore failure modes.
  • Root cause analysis, strong problem-solving, analytical, and technical reporting skills.
  • Understanding of power system protection, cable systems, transformers, and HV plant operation.
  • Proficiency with electrical modelling tools (e.g., DIgSILENT, ETAP) and interpretation of advanced diagnostic data.

Languages:

The project has an international team of employees, and the working language is English. Candidates need to be fluent in English both spoken and written. Proficiency in other languages will be valued.

Location in Edinburgh but travel to O&M facilities in the north-east of Scotland and offshore sites, as well as supplier's facilities and offices, will be required.
