Technical Operations Lead

Overview

Role: Technical Operations Lead at OVO. Team: Energy Operations. Location: Hub Based – Hybrid for all. Salary banding: £45,000 – £50,000. Experience: Expert. Working pattern: Full-Time. Reporting to: Sophie Richards, Operational Analytics Lead. Sponsorship: Unfortunately we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of analysts and technical specialists, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
• Attend and facilitate Agile ceremonies.
• Ensure robust documentation across delivery, including JIRA and Confluence.
• Analyse team performance data to identify areas of improvements and optimisation.
• Identify and address performance gaps, implementing corrective actions and improvement plans.
• Continuously drive sprint velocity; proactively identifying missed targets and working with the team to get back on track.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback to the team.
• Work closely with the Operational Analytics Lead to ensure deliverables are met on time and aligned with other priorities.
• Ensure work meets all requirements, including BAU initiatives and incident support.
• Support enforcing team best practices, such as coding standards and technical documentation.
• Foster a culture of feedback by creating an environment where giving and receiving feedback is encouraged and valued.

• Experience balancing multiple priorities and dealing with change and ambiguity.
• Resilient to change and able to support others through varied changes.
• A proactive, ambitious mindset with a willingness to take on challenges.
• Excellent communicator with the ability to tailor messages for audiences at all levels of the organisation.
• Proficient experience using JIRA for Agile ceremonies and built-in reporting to monitor progress.
• Ability to quickly understand business requirements and relay them to the team when required.
