Role in a nutshell
As a Staff Security Engineer β Security Data Specialist, you will design, build, and deploy data solutions that drive organisation-wide security value. Your work will enable product and service owners, engineering teams including security engineers to identify patterns in data and use insights to improve coding hygiene and system architecture. This is a collaborative role with wide-ranging impact.
Key outcomes
- Architect, design, and deploy features in a unified OVO security data platform to enable security engineers to optimise cyber defence, attack surface management, and security controls assurance.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest security data and AI trends, tools, and technologies to keep the teamβs approach innovative.
- Foster an inclusive team environment where everyone feels valued and able to contribute.
- Communicate effectively with collaborators to explain concepts and drive informed decision-making.
First 3 months
- Understand existing security data sources, data pipelines, data warehouse, and security operations principles.
- Contribute to development and enhancement of security data and AI model architectures.
- Guide and educate other teams about effective security data and AI practices and opportunities.
Responsibilities and experience
- Data automation and AI-enabled security: design and implement robust automation and AI augmentation frameworks and tools for threat detection, security findings, incident remediation, and risk operations; automate security playbooks, policies, and guardrails in workflows, CI/CD, and IDEs.
- Secure development: create automated assurance mechanisms against technical security guidance, implement security audit points in digital services, monitor secure coding and infrastructure patterns, automate policy enforcement, and enable secure provisioning.
- Decision support and behaviour change: design security decision-making experiences, measure impact, and use data-driven checks to support communication and decision-making; act as a subject matter expert on data and analysis.
- Mentor junior engineers: provide technical guidance, review work, share knowledge, and support professional development within the team.
- Community of Practice: contribute to the security engineering CoP by leading discussions and sharing practices.

What we offer
- Salary: Β£72,000 β Β£95,000 depending on skills and experience.
