We’re offering an exciting opportunity to join OVO as a qualified Smart Energy Engineer. You’ll be working at customers’ homes delivering a service we can be proud of and helping us achieve our mission of driving progress towards net zero carbon living.
This role in a nutshell:
You will play a key role in supporting our customers and OVO onto the path of Zero Carbon by visiting our customers, offering amazing Customer Service, carrying out Smart installs, and offering fantastic energy efficiency.
You’ll be working 42.5 Hours per week based in one of the areas above, with some travel required for training, team connections, and to support customer demand. The role also involves driving one of our fabulous EV vans for work purposes only.
Your key outcomes will be:
- Being a passionate advocate of OVO’s Plan Zero and energy efficiency, delivering the highest possible level of customer satisfaction.
- Engaging with our customers on the benefits of smart meters and how to monitor and reduce their energy consumption.
- With support and coaching from mentors and your Manager, you will continue to develop.
- You’ll be responsible for the whole customer experience, ensuring you have the right materials stocked in your van and a proactive approach to pre-visit communication.
- Adapt working methods to install Smart metering systems in various customer environments and identify unsafe conditions.
- Collaborate with peers and colleagues while ensuring we always deliver on our customers’ needs.
- Take ownership to work on your own initiative, refreshing knowledge and skills to enhance safety, member satisfaction, and efficiency.
- Carry out risk assessments to ensure the safety of yourself, the customer, and their property.

You’ll be a successful Smart Energy Engineer here at OVO if you…
- Hold a CCN1/CMA1 & MET1 or Level 2 Smart Meter Diploma.
- Have a minimum of 6 months experience as a Smart Energy Engineer / Dual Fuel Meter installer.
- Hold a current full manual driving license (with up to 6 points) valid in the UK.
- Have a strong desire to learn and develop, using creative thinking.
- Demonstrate key behaviours that align with our OVO values.
- Value different perspectives, skills, and experiences.
- Are comfortable talking to and helping our customers in their homes.
- Are great at multitasking and managing your time effectively.
