Role summary
As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer, you will design, build, and deploy machine learning solutions that drive business value on the OVO AI Platform. You will develop new features and functionalities used by engineers and data scientists as a foundation to deliver AI models and use cases. Key responsibilities
- Architect, design, and deploy new features and functionality on the OVO AI Platform to enable users to deliver high-quality ML and AI models at scale.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product managers, software developers, business analysts) to ensure ML initiatives align with business goals.
- Mentor and set technical direction for ML engineering and data science colleagues building AI solutions.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest ML trends, tools, and technologies to keep the teamβs approach innovative.
- Foster an inclusive team environment where everyone feels valued and able to contribute.
- Communicate effectively with collaborators to explain concepts and support informed decision making.
First 3 months
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of the AI platform and MLOps principles.
- Collaborate on various projects, providing insights on ML standard processes and software engineering guidelines.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of systems.
- Educate other teams about effective ML practices and MLOps strategies.
Qualifications and requirements
- Experience leading technical ML projects.
- Excellent production-level Python programming skills, including experience with software testing (unit, integration, system) and knowledge of test-driven development; other languages are a plus.
- Proficiency with ML frameworks such as scikit-learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
- Proficiency with Cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure).
- Experience designing and deploying ML pipelines in production environments; knowledge of Kubeflow Pipelines is a plus.
- Deep understanding of ML principles, monitoring, security, and data preprocessing techniques.
- Familiarity with software engineering practices (design patterns, CI/CD, version control, containerisation, IaC/Terraform); Kubernetes knowledge is a plus.
- Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to excel in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
- Open-mindedness, cultural sensitivity, and commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace.
Compensation and benefits
- Salary banding: Β£74,000 – Β£105,600
- On-target bonus: 15%
- 9% Flex Pay on top of salary, with 4% auto-enrolled into pension and 5% flexible for benefits, including green benefits
- 34 days holiday (including bank holidays)
