This role sits in a fast-paced and autonomous corporate venture called OVO Solar & Heating, which aims to re-establish and grow OVO’s renewables business. Launched in March 2025 on an innovative franchising model, it outpaced OVO’s best ever monthly solar sales within four months. By the end of 2027, the unit is expected to be one of the largest solar & heat pump installation companies in the UK.
The role is akin to a Chief Of Staff, reporting directly to the CEO of the business unit. It will engage closely with all internal unit functions—operations, sales, marketing, tech, and business operations—as well as many OVO Energy functions from marketing to finance. This role will be offered on an initial 6 month fixed-term contract.
Your key outcomes will include:
- Coordination and stakeholder management across the internal team as well as wider OVO to ensure the business unit is executing to plan.
- Consultant and partner to member(s) of the LT, building strong working relationships with their teams and with people across the business.
- Business Unit Strategy & Resource Allocation - develop and iterate strategic documents and artefacts (including CLT and Board materials).
- Collaborate cross functionally across the organisation, partnering with the planning function and finance partners to ensure strategies are aligned to financial outlooks.
- Proactively prepare and present materials for Board meetings, collaborating with the central Strategy team as needed.
- Market/Customer/Competitor research and benchmarking.
- Ad Hoc Special Projects including working directly with Revenue and Operations teams, and with Franchisees.
Within your first 6 months:
- Significant contribution to the business unit strategy.
- Commercial and business skills and experience with exposure to all major business functions.
- Deep understanding of the solar and heat pump market in the UK.
- Leadership & Management mentorship from the CEO.
You’ll be a successful Strategy Partner at OVO if you’re a:
- No-ego problem-solver willing to get their hands dirty, with a track record of producing results fast.
- High-energy, self-motivated can-do person, comfortable with ambiguity.
- Confident yet warm communicator with exceptional soft skills.
- Strong financial planning, business casing, analysis, and modelling skills.
- Experience in a start-up or high-intensity, resource-lean venture.
What’s in it for you:
- 34 days of holiday (including bank holidays).
- Healthcare cash plan or private medical insurance depending on career level.
- Gym membership, travel insurance, workplace ISA, will writing services, dental insurance, and more.
- Extra holiday buying, discount dining, home & tech loans.
- Great deals on ultra-low emission car leasing, cycle to work, and public transport loans.
