Where you’ll work: Depending on the needs of your business area, we expect hub based people to be in the office at least once a week, and to go to OVO Connection events in-person. You’ll be assigned to the closest one of our three hub offices, Bristol, Glasgow, or London; unless your role requires field-based work. Each hub has accessible spaces to park your laptop, is designed to inspire people, help them connect and bring big ideas to life.

Everyone belongs at OVO: At OVO, we are on a mission to solve one of humanity's biggest challenges, the climate crisis. And we know it takes all of us to change the world. That's why we need diverse people from all abilities, gender identities, ethnicities, ages, sexual orientations, life experiences and backgrounds to join us.

Teamworking for the planet: Everything we do here spins around Plan Zero. So, naturally, the team you’ll be joining plays a gigantic role in making that happen. Here’s how: We've made real progress on the UK's path to net zero - but there's further to go. Renewable energy tariffs alone won't make the grid greener. We need to help customers save energy, shift when they use it, and reduce their carbon footprint in every way we can. That's where OVO Drive comes in. We're the dedicated EV business within OVO, providing everything a driver needs: home charger installation, home and public charging access, and a single app that ties it all together. We operate with a start-up mindset - moving fast, trying new things, and scaling what works.

This role in a nutshell: With this being a senior leadership position we're looking for someone to take full ownership of product and technology for the OVO Drive business. That includes the OVO Charge app and all of OVO Drive's digital products - leading a team of around 25 across product, design, iOS, Android, platform engineering and QA - shaping how we build for charger installs, home/public charging and flexibility.

Your key outcomes will be:

  • The key delivery owner of the product and technology strategy for the OVO Charge app and all of OVO Drive's digital products - charger installs, home public charging & flexibility.
  • Lead a team of around 25+ across product management, UX/UI design, mobile software engineering, Full-stack software engineering (including DevOps) and QA.
  • Influence the technical architecture and product roadmap for our Native mobile apps across iOS and Android.
  • Create a great team culture that enables colleagues from various backgrounds to operate as a happy, high-performing team.
  • Partner closely with OVO tech, commercial, operations and marketing leaders to translate business strategy into Drive’s Product and technology strategy.
  • Build a strong tech culture - data driven decisions, iterative development, accessibility, code quality, testing, CI/CD, security and reliability - across a mixed app and web estate.
  • Own the product and tech budget, resourcing plan and delivery roadmap, reporting into senior leadership.
  • Ensure app performance, reliability and customer experience meet a consistently high bar.
  • Represent Product & Technology in senior leadership forums.

What you'll bring to this role:

  • Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary product and engineering teams of 20+ people, including managers.
  • Strong hands on product or engineering background, ideally across native mobile products and web applications.
  • Experience running agile product development, roadmapping and OKRs across product, design and engineering.
  • Comfortable leading tech teams through organisational changes.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills - comfortable operating with C-suite and senior internal and external audiences.
  • Experience in energy retail, EV, or low carbon technologies is a plus, but not essential.
  • Managerial experience in both fast pace startup environment and larger corporate environments.
  • A genuine passion for the EV and energy transition space would be a bonus.

Let’s talk about what’s in it for you:

We’ll pay you between £110,000 and £125,000, depending on your specific skills and experience.
