Where you’ll work: Depending on the needs of your business area, we expect hub based people to be in the office at least once a week, and to go to OVO Connection events in-person. You’ll be assigned to the closest one of our three hub offices, Bristol, Glasgow, or London; unless your role requires field-based work. Our team is responsible for the price setting of our energy tariffs as we work to value optimise within our pricing principles. The principles and strategies we develop have a significant impact on how we engage and retain our current customers and gain new customers so that we can bring them on a journey to net zero.

This role in a nutshell: This is an exciting role responsible for delivering high profile analytical output to enable OVO to engage and retain customers and grow strategically. The role informs critical business planning and pricing processes against the backdrop of fast paced retail and wholesale markets.

Your key outcomes will be: Within your first 3-6 months you’ll:

  • Sharpen your understanding of the wholesale and retail market dynamics which impact OVO’s pricing and the regulatory framework in which OVO operates
  • Understand and contribute to maintaining the price setting frameworks we use
  • Track competitor behaviour and undertake analysis to better understand their strategies
  • Support the presentation of pricing recommendations to senior management
  • Collaborate with the wider business, including Propositions, Growth, Tariff Delivery and Energy Economics teams to deliver price changes and support improved agility of price changes
  • Support and develop standardised ways to assess the short and long term value of potential new customer propositions and compare these against each other
  • Work collaboratively with the wider OVO data analyst community to provide joined up insights on the impact of pricing decisions on customer acquisition, retention, gross margins, and value.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders across all levels to consolidate and cascade information, highlight risks and opportunities and develop business processes.

Systems: We primarily use Google Sheets so advanced experience in this or Microsoft Excel is a must. Experience in SQL is highly beneficial as we use BigQuery SQL for working with large volumes of data. Experience in Google Looker Studio and JavaScript Google Sheets macros is beneficial but not essential.

You’ll be a successful Senior Pricing Analyst here at OVO if you…

  • Are confident responding to a changing environment and able to take the initiative in addressing and leading our response to complex challenges
  • Have experience working in the energy industry and have an understanding of how a retail energy supplier operates within the wider industry. A detailed understanding of the drivers of costs and risks for suppliers is beneficial but not essential.
  • Are experienced in analysing large datasets, working with ambiguous or limited data, and extracting key insights using SQL and Google Sheets or MS Excel
  • Are able to learn quickly to develop a detailed understanding of existing models and processes
  • Are able to explain complex concepts and market dynamics in a clear and simple way to a range of audiences
  • Are able to work flexibly and switch between a range of tasks and ongoing projects
  • Are able to work both autonomously and with colleagues to deliver value in a small, high-functioning team and within cross functional teams
  • Are confident influencing senior stakeholders

Let’s talk about what’s in it for you: We’ll pay you between £47,000 and £67,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. If your expectations are a little different, have a chat with us!
