Where you’ll work

For this role, we expect the successful candidate to work from the Bristol office at least 1-2 days per week and attend OVO Connection events in person. Our hub has accessible spaces to park your laptop, is designed to inspire people, help them connect and bring big ideas to life.

Role context

Everything we do here spins around Plan Zero. The Group Reporting Team plays a pivotal role within our finance function, directly contributing to the company\’s sustainable growth and overall strategic objectives. This team is crucial in accurately reporting our financial position, enabling investment, managing risk, and fostering a strong reputation.

This role in a nutshell

Reporting into the Senior Group Reporting Manager, you will have responsibility for supporting the external and internal reporting and technical accounting requirements for the OVO Group to ensure accurate results are reported and enable informed decision-making.

Your key outcomes

  • Assisting with the production of IFRS consolidated results for various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assisting with the production of IFRS and UK GAAP (both FRS 101 and FRS 102) annual statutory accounts.
  • Assisting with the preparation of detailed technical accounting memos and calculations.
  • Supporting the external audit, including coordinating the audit and preparing audit work papers.
  • Ownership of IFRS 16 lease accounting including maintaining IFRS 16 lease schedules and calculations. Candidates must have good working knowledge of IFRS 16.
  • Preparing covenant calculations and reporting.
  • Preparing compliance reporting.
  • Ownership of intercompany month end process including ensuring elimination of transactions and balances within the group and accuracy and completeness of intercompany transactions and balances.
  • Supporting the Senior Group Reporting Manager in developing efficient processes, controls and systems to support the growth of the business.
  • Supporting the Senior Group Reporting Manager in delivering IFRS training to the finance team.
  • Supporting the wider financial control team as required.

You’ll be a successful Financial Accountant here at OVO if you…

  • A qualified accountant (ACA, CA), preferably trained with practice firms
  • Post-qualification experience, preferably both in practice and industry but not essential
  • Technical IFRS/UK GAAP knowledge
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently to deliver results
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Strong organisational, project management, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a changing environment
  • Organised and thorough in approach with a keen attention to detail and willingness to dig and investigate to resolve problems with own initiative.

We’ll pay you between £43,500 and £55,000, depending on your specific skills and experience. We keep our pay ranges broad on purpose to give us, and you, flexibility to match your experience to our zero carbon mission. You’ll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%.
