Where you’ll work:

Depending on the needs of your business area, we expect hub based people to be in the office at least once a week, and to go to OVO Connection events in-person.

You’ll be assigned to the closest one of our three hub offices, Bristol, Glasgow, or London; unless your role requires field-based work. Each hub has accessible spaces to park your laptop, is designed to inspire people, help them connect and bring big ideas to life.

Working within OVO’s Energy Markets and Optimisation (EMO) function, this role sits within the Energy Value area of the Future Energy team. We’re a team of experts on the energy market who help to develop market leading propositions and tariffs for customers.

This role in a nutshell:

You’ll work with teams across OVO to provide first class reporting and insight that will support smart, data-driven and value-led commercial decisions across all our tariffs and propositions. You will have direct responsibility for addressing and leading complex changes.

Your key outcomes will be:

  • Lead on Ovo’s unit economics modelling for domestic flexibility.
  • Provide trusted value modelling for new and existing customer propositions, including those involving EV charging, heat pumps, domestic battery systems, solar export, and more.
  • Collaborate with commercial teams across the business to support commercial decision making such as tariff pricing, structuring or advising on design features for innovative propositions.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and insightful reporting on the risks to Value to Ovo and its influence on Gross Margin.

    Essential:

  • An analytical degree, such as Maths, Physics or Engineering.
  • Have 2+ years work experience in a commercial, analytical, or science based role within the energy industry.
  • Have the commercial awareness to support prioritisation and communication at a senior level.
  • Be comfortable working with ambiguity and not see it as a blocker to progress.
  • Have the ability to learn quickly in order to develop a detailed understanding of existing models and processes.
  • Are highly analytical with strong data manipulation skills.
  • Are a self-starter, comfortable working both autonomously and with colleagues to deliver value in a small, high-functioning team.
  • Have demonstrable high attention to detail and strong communication skills.
  • Our primary tooling includes: BigQuery, Tableau/Looker, Python, Github. You will need to either have experience in these tools, or be keen and confident to learn them in-role.
  • Desirable:

  • Have experience in value modelling of domestic flexibility.
  • Have the ability to cut through the noise and provide actionable commercial insight in an arena where there are many unknowns.
  • Have some experience of using BigQuery or SQL to create robust reporting and analysis.
  • Have experience in statistical and optimisation Python libraries such as Pandas.

    We’ll pay you between £45,770 and £60,000, depending on your specific skills and experience.

    We keep our pay ranges broad on purpose to give us, and you, flexibility to match your experience to our zero carbon mission.

    You’ll be eligible for an on-target bonus of 15%. We have one OVO bonus plan that focuses on the collective performance of our people to deliver our Plan Zero goal.
